The 1st Place winner will advance to represent the Eta Phi Chapter at the 1st District Competition in Stamford, CT on April 18th
The contestant must be a high school student who has not advanced beyond a senior at the time of the local Talent Hunt competition.
Contestants who are homeschooled must present verification from their residential school district, that they are a high school student.
All participants must memorize their performances, and the pieces are to be dignified and in good taste, including instrumental numbers. Performances which are not memorized cannot be considered for prizes.
Track music may be used for accompaniment if there are no lead instrumental or background vocals included on the track.
The Talent Hunt is a competition on the local, state, and district levels.
At the international level, the Talent Hunt is a demonstration only! There is no adjudication at this level. All guidelines at the district level will apply for the international demonstration.
The presentation performed or presented at the local level shall be the same as performed at the state, district, and international levels. A request to change a performance must be approved and documented by the chairman of the state, district or international program.
The chapter is responsible for all expenses incurred with taking its contestant to the State or District Talent Hunt as applicable.
Where there is a State competition, the State is responsible for all expenses incurred with taking its contestant to the District Talent Hunt. Talent Hunt Handbook Page 5 of 53
The District is responsible for expenses incurred with taking the District winner to the International Talent Hunt Demonstration during the Grand Conclave or the Bro. Dr. Moses C. Norman, Sr. International Leadership Conference.

Participants may compete in one of the following six talent categories:
Dramatic Interpretation

Judging Criteria
Each performance category includes ten (10) separate judging criteria.
Each criterion will be scored on a scale of 1 to 5
1 = Lowest score
5 = Highest score
With ten criteria scored at up to five points each, the maximum possible score in each category is 100 points.

Note:
Win 1st place at the chapter level and take home $1,000—plus advancement to the District Contest! District winner moves on to the International Contest, where awards grow even bigger. Each stage opens the door to prizes that go far beyond the initial $1,000 chapter award.
The essay must be original and neither previously published nor secured by copyright.
The essay must be between 700 and 750 words in length. The type-written, double-spaced essay and may be submitted via postal service or email in Microsoft Word.
Use of assistance software and/or technology (i.e. AI) in creating this original work is strictly prohibited. The Committee will be using software to detect the usage of Artificial Intelligence to assist with the essay. If the content is found to be above a 40% threshold the essay will be disqualified.
All submissions will be reviewed by the Eta Phi Chapter Scholarship Committee. Do not change or shorten the Essay Topic.
